Meet the Storytellers
Michael Diamond, Creative Director of The Old Ways (He/Him)
Some say he’s a CIA experiment gone wrong and that he sleeps upside down like a bat. Michael fell in love with torturing people with his schemes and dice many years ago, which he blames on being left to his own devices at a young age. Deep down, he’s here for the story, but enjoys making trouble when he gets a chance to play. Advocate of coffee, and dog lover.
Michael began his journey with tabletop games in the early 90s, with games like D&D, Shadowrun, Star Wars (WEG), and the World of Darkness. The Old Ways began in 2019 after a series of campaigns led him to use a recording device as a method of notetaking. With an array of fabulous players around him, he launched the podcast as a method of storytelling and capturing the shared memories at each of those tables.
Since its inception The Old Ways has been about creating engaging and compelling narratives which enjoy thumbing their nose at the conventional or ordinary. As Chief Catalyst for the show, he enjoys lighting fires and works to be an agent of change in the tabletop community.

Maverick "Mav", aka Keeper Mav (They/Them)
Mav (they/them) has been playing RPGs since they were 12, when they were introduced to Star Trek Play By Forums on ye olde internet. Since then, they have played D&D, Call of Cthulhu, and various other systems; as a Forever GM, they are thrilled to be in a campaign where they get to have shenanigans and solve the puzzles instead of having to make sure everyone else solves them despite all the shenanigans. In addition to gaming, Mav is a voice actor, writer, aspiring drag king, nerd, and general Chaos Elemental. Their favorite TV series is Star Trek Deep Space Nine, and their cat’s name is Garak, and there’s no possible way those two facts are connected. They have plans for world domination through podcasting, but they’re not ready to talk about that yet.
Leco a.k.a Alex (He/Him)
Leco is more often a player than a storyteller for The Old Ways so it's always a true delight when we see him at a different seat at the table, such as when he told our Shadowrun 5e Twitch campaign "drake.Revenge"
James (He/Him)
James is another occasional storyteller we have come over from the cast side of the show to provide fantastic tales, such as his Changeling the Dreaming series based in the Twin Cities are of the US he brought to life called "Whispers of the Lost".
